ESSEX — A worried mother called police Wednesday when her kayaking son didn’t answer his cell phone.

The mom, an Essex resident, phoned police Wednesday around 3:45 p.m., saying she was concerned because her son was not answering his cell phone while kayaking in the area of Conomo Point.

Police were able to make contact with the kayaker and put him in touch with his mother.
