Essex Police/Fire: Crash sends woman to hospit al

ESSEX — A woman was transported by ambulance to Beverly Hospital on Wednesday after a four-car accident on John Wise Avenue around 6:05 p.m., according to police.

Police said the woman was transported as a precaution, and that all other drivers and passengers reported being unharmed. Tally’s towed two vehicles from the scene.

Some burning food set off a smoke detector at a Rocky Hill Road residence Wednesday, prompting police and firefighters to respond to the alarm at 1:17 p.m., according to police. Officers said there was no damage.

Police helped safely remove a bat from a Lufkin Point Road home, after the resident called to report that the creature was flying around the house about 8:41 p.m., according to police.
