Rockport Police/Fire: N.H. man faces local domestic charges

ROCKPORT — A 66-year-old New Hampshire man was arrested in Rockport on domestic assault and battery charges about 9:57 p.m. Tuesday night.

Ernest Doucette was arrested after a neighbor reported a commotion at a Middle Road residence the man was visiting, police said.

In addition to the assault and battery charges, Doucette was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in Salem District Court and also placed in protective custody for intoxication, according to police.

A town police officer was standing next to the scene of a two-car accident at a Whistlestop Mall parking lot Monday about 1:51 p.m., filling out an accident report, when another vehicle struck one of the cars that had been involved in the prior accident. There were no injuries, according to police.
