ESSEX — Department of Public Works crews Tuesday morning removed what police described as a “huge” tree limb that had fallen beside the roadway on Apple Street Monday night.
An officer on patrol first noted the tree limb beside the road Monday about 11 p.m., and guessed the wind may have snapped the branch, police said.
Since the branch fell away from the roadway, public works crews waited until Tuesday morning to clear it, according to police.
A faulty motion detecting burglar alarm sounded three times at a Main Street restaurant early Tuesday morning, according to police.
Police said the alarm drew officers in response at 2:23 a.m., 3:32 a.m. and 5:03 a.m., but the business was found to be secure each time.
