MANCHESTER — Police assisted at the scene of a "minor fender-bender" on Union Street at 7:36 p.m. Thursday. There were no reported injuries and both vehicles were driven away.
A large branch fell on the road in the area of 153 School St., shortly before 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Police searched for the branch but someone had already removed it from the roadway by the time officers arrived.
The deputy director of Massachusetts' marine fisheries has charged that the federal groundfish catch share system has allowed big trawlers designed for offshore fishing to pillage cod from the inshore waters of Stellwagen Bank.
