A Beverly woman was arrested Thursday morning on drug possession charges after police found her passed out in her parked car.

Melanie J. Mazzone, 36, of 6 School St., Beverly, is being charged with illegal possession of a Class B substance after police found Klonopin pills in her purse.

Police were called to Washington Street near the corner of Centennial Avenue on reports that a woman was passed out in her vehicle. When police arrived, they unsuccessfully tried to wake the driver, later identified as Mazzone, on two occasions before succeeding on the third try.
