ESSEX — Municipal meetings that are open to the public and scheduled this week in Essex:

Selectmen, 7, p.m., TOHP Burnham Library, 30 Martin St. Public hearing concerning the potential formation of a cultural district. Cultural districts can help local arts, humanities, and science organizations improve the quality and range of their public programs so more local families can benefit; can enhance the experience for visitors and thus attract tourist dollars and tax revenue; and can attract artists, cultural groups and entrepreneurs.

Finance Committee, 7:30 p.m., Senior Center. Discuss fiscal 2012 budget to date, upcoming fiscal 2013 budget, and need for members; elect existing members to positions.

Selectmen and Planning Board, 7:30 p.m., TOHP Burnham Library, 30 Martin St.. Interview Planning Board candidates before voting new member to the board.
