ROCKPORT — An Eden Road resident called police at 10 a.m. Friday to report an email scam.
According to police, the man received an email purporting to be from a friend who was in trouble in the Philippines. The man sent $800 before discovering that the email did not come from the friend.
Police advise anyone who receives a similar phone call or email to try to check with the person it claims to be from before sending any money.
Police doing random checks stopped a 23-year-old Gloucester woman at 1:48 a.m. Friday, discovering that her license had been suspended. Criminal charges are being sought.
