Trap tree takes shape

A day before the lighting of Gloucester’s Kent Circle Christmas tree, another downtown Gloucester tradition began to take shape as well.

David Brooks and volunteers from the Cape Ann Art Haven began construction Saturday on the city’s Lobster Trap holiday tree, built in its usual spot alongside the city’s police headquarters on Main Street.

The tree, which will ultimately be decorated with more than 300 painted buoys, isn’t yet in full glory however. It’s completion and lighting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8, in conjunction with a series of downtown Gloucester events and the annual Middle Street Walk.
