Essex Police/Fire: Flag man, motorist exchange words

ESSEX — A motorist contacted police to complain about a flag man directing traffic during the Route 133 construction project.

The driver called police at 1:37 p.m. Thursday to report a flag man was "out of control" at the intersection of Main Street and Southern and Eastern avenues.

He said he was asked to slow down in "an aggressive tone" by the flagger. When the motorist asked if was the flag man was trained in speed estimation, the flag man responded with an obscenity.

A local business reported a larceny by check to police at 8:11 a.m. yesterday. The matter is under investigation.

At 8:23 a.m. yesterday, panes of glass fell off a glass truck on Western Avenue by Essex Elementary School. The Department of Public Works was called to clean up the shards so children walking to and from the school would not be injured.

A Lufkin Point Lane resident called police at 9:17 a.m. yesterday to report a suspicious person in the area. Police could not find anyone.

At 10:25 a.m. yesterday police received a report of someone running down Southern Road. The person told the responding officer she was jogging.
