ROCKPORT — A 16-year-old girl was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery early Saturday after police responded to her Mount Pleasant Street home at 12:03 a.m. on a report another woman needed help.
The girl reportedly grabbed and pushed the other woman, police said. Officers on the scene observed a large welt and some bruising on the woman's arms.
Police investigated a reported larceny at Rite Aid at Sunday morning.
A person called police after witnessing someone shoplift from the Whistlestop Mall business at 11:51 a.m. Police spoke with the suspects, a group of young girls, who said they became frazzled and ran out of the store without paying for several items still in hand after hearing their outbound train preparing to depart. Worried they would miss the train and seeing a long line at the register, the girls forgot to put the merchandise down and ran out, police said. The girls agreed to return the merchandise and no charges were filed.
Rescuers transported a woman from Whistlestop Mall and a Hodgkin's Road man to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester on Friday. A Sandy Bay Terrace man was transported to the hospital at 7:06 Saturday morning.
