Lantigua to endorse Coakley for Senate

BOSTON — Lawrence Mayor-elect William Lantigua will join a group of community leaders today to endorse the candidacy of state Attorney General Martha Coakley for U.S. Senate.

Coakley's campaign announced yesterday that Lantigua will join Fitchburg Mayor Lisa Wong and former Boston City Councilor Bruce Bolling in endorsing her.

In a press release, Coakley's campaign said she is receiving "the endorsements of prominent leaders from communities of color across Massachusetts."

Coakley is among four Democrats seeking their party's nomination in a special primary election next month for a chance to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy. The others are Congressman Michael Capuano of Somerville, Boston Celtic's co-owner Steven Pagiluca and City Year co-founder Alan Khazei.
