The Gloucester City Council has not voted to formally reject a proposal to add a .75 percent local meals tax onto the.25 percent tax charged by the state. The council's Ordinance and Administration Committee voted Monday not to recommend adding the tax, but the full council, while failing to approve the proposal, simply set the measure aside for consideration on Dec. 15. Yesterday's editorial had praised the council's decision to essentially reject the proposed tax; that did not accurately represent the council's action.
