ROCKPORT — Having narrowed the field from 47 applicants to roughly a dozen semifinalists Tuesday night, Rockport's Schools Superintendent Search Committee is now set to firm up questions to pose to those candidates.
The committee, seeking a successor to Superintendent Susan King, is set to develop its lines of questions during a Thursday meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the Rockport Elementary School library. King announced in January she would be retiring at the end of the school year after four years at the helm.
Pamela Brindamour, chairwoman of the committee, noted that the process began with 47 candidates, with the committee whittling the field to some 12 semifinalists after discussing the top contenders during executive session at another workshop held Tuesday night.
The committee is seeking to complete the interviews by March 20, Brindamour said, when the ad-hoc panel is due to pass on the recommendations of between three and five finalists to the full School Committee.
"The committee schedule is fast-moving," Brindamour said.
Anyone seeking further information may go to the school website or contact the superintendent's office.
