MANCHESTER POLICE/FIRE

MANCHESTER — A fight on Loading Place Road led to an arrest Tuesday.

Laurence Avanzino, 37, of Main Street in Gloucester was taken into protective custody after police broke up a fight at 8:17 p.m. Then, Avanzino's mother called the station to inquire about her son. Through her, the police were able to determine that Avanzino had given them a false name and that a warrant existed for his arrest. He was arrested and charged with giving a false name and was arraigned yesterday.

Emergency medical technicians also responded to a medical emergency Tuesday on Putnam Court. They transported a patient to Beverly Hospital at 5:30 p.m.
