Kirk, Clark named to advisory ocean panel

Gov. Deval Patrick has appointed Mayor Carolyn Kirk and Jack Clark, a Gloucester resident and lobbyist for the Massachusetts Audubon Society, to the 17-member Ocean Advisory Commission.

The commission was created by the Ocean Management Act that was enacted last May, and given the responsibility for developing an ocean management plan. The state is the first to decide on forming such a policy, which would cover the three miles that are inside the federal waters that run from three to 200 miles out to sea.

Clark was chosen to hold an environmental seat.

He is a member of the Waterways Board and the former chairman of the Planning Board.
