---- — MANCHESTER — Police charged a Wilmington woman with speeding and driving with a suspended license after they stopped her in the southbound lane of Route 128, Wednesday at 10:38 a.m.

According to the police report, officers stopped the woman, Jilliam Francis, 25, of Wilmington, for driving 85 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. Officers also found she had a child under eight years old in the car who wasn’t sitting in a car seat, and Francis was cited for that safety violation as well.

A Beach Street resident told police that someone had stolen his Romney campaign sign from his yard at 5:47 p.m, Tuesday.

Police said they have had several similar calls over the last few days, with signs supporting both Republican and Democratic candidates stolen from local lawns.

At 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, police received a call about an intoxicated man walking down School Street.

They found the man walking around downtown and found him a ride home to Beverly. He was told to leave work after coming in intoxicated, police said.
