Kite and spirits soar over Halibut Point

ROCKPORT — When I saw the Rockport weather forecast just recently for a clear day with steady winds, I packed a picnic, the dog, the kite, the GoPro and my wife Elise, and drove out of the calm Merrimack Valley for the windy shores at Halibut Point State Park.

While the vistas from foot are spectacular, the perspective from Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) is certainly unique.

The camera is up there just swinging around in the breeze, doing its thing, snapping pictures at a consistent interval. It’s addicting, I don’t know what kinds of images I’m getting, but it’s always interesting.

My GoPro is the original model — it has no digital preview — so waiting to get home to look at the images on my computer is the closest thing to the feeling you get from shooting film.

Got Wind? Where should I go next? I’m on a KAP mission.
