Rockport Police/Fire:Rockport man facing drunken driving charge

ROCKPORT — After police had run a Whistlestop Mall resident’s license plate number, police arrested him on Beach Street Sunday around 2:30 p.m.

Wayne Reed, 56, is facing a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating with a suspended license and operating with no insurance.

Rockport firefighters aided the Gloucester Fire Department battling a brief forest fire near the Blackburn Industrial Park on Saturday around 3:15 p.m. By about 5:40, the fire was under control.

Friday at 6:30 p.m., a Bearskin Neck man called to report vandalism; the tires to his kayak trailer had been slashed.

Around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, a 6-year-old was transported from Kite Field Road to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester after the child had fallen.

A female Frank Street resident was transported to the Gloucester hospital Sunday at 3:45 a.m.
