Gloucester Police/Fire: Police patroling area of East Gloucester school

Gloucester Police/Fire

GLOUCESTER — The East Gloucester Elementary School principal phoned police Monday afternoon after receiving reports from concerned parents.

Parents told the principal they had seen a strange man near a path by the school watching their children, the report indicates.

Police began to routinely check the area Tuesday for any suspicious activity, but did not locate anyone.

Monday around noon, a Nashua Street woman reported missing items, which she believes were stolen from her house.

The police report states the woman had last seen her silver dining set, valued at $5,000, two weeks ago. Some of her mother’s jewelry, valued at $8,000, was last seen in November of last year. The items were first reported missing Saturday. The woman said there was no sign of forced entry from when she last saw the items.

A homeless woman was arrested Monday at 12:25 for warrants out of Gloucester District Court.

Pauline Coleman, 51, was arrested on Thomas Court and resisted police, flailing her arms before calming down, according to the police report.

Police recognized an East Main Street man Monday around 1:30 p.m. as one for whom they had multiple warrants for his arrest. Police arrested Jeffrey Carpenter, 24 when he was walking on Prospect Street.

After police were notified a Young Avenue woman was driving without a license, she was soon arrested on Washington Street Tuesday around 10:45 a.m.

Jacqueline Magnarelli, 33, told police her license would not be suspended until May 28, but police said they had to follow the information with the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Tally’s Towing was notified to remove the vehicle.
