ESSEX — Motorists in Essex reported several animals in the roadways over the weekend.
A dead cat was reported on a sidewalk on Main Street Saturday at 1:28 a.m.
Saturday afternoon at 4:21, a severely injured dog was reported on John Wise Avenue. Animal control was notified.
Then, at 11:43 p.m. on Saturday, a Story Acres Road resident called to report seeing someone in their backyard. When police arrived, they found hoof prints in the back yard; police believed the resident may have seen a deer.
Early Saturday morning at 1:11, a suspicious vehicle was reported near Conomo Point Road. Police found a vehicle parked with the motor running; the two people left the area after speaking with police.
A false alarm was reported at 9:12 a.m. on Sunday at Centennial Grove. Police responded and checked the house, but found that everything was secure.
Another false alarm was reported at 7:20 p.m. on Belcher Street Sunday; police did not find anything when they checked the area.
Police notified National Grid about a damaged utility pole near an intersection on Main Street at 1:25 p.m. on Sunday.
On Sunday at 9:45 a.m., police notified the state Department of Transportation after a plow had damaged a section of Main Street.
On Monday morning, shortly before 6:30, a male Story Street resident was transported to Beverly Hospital.
