Manchester Police/Fire: Route 128 southbound proves problematic

MANCHESTER — Weather conditions on Route 128 southbound proved to be challenging for several motorists over the weekend.

At 10:24 p.m. on Saturday, a car went off the road between Exits 15 and 16. There were no reported injuries, however, and Cross Towing was called to get the car out of the snow.

Saturday at 11:48 p.m., there was a report of a disabled motor vehicle on Route 128 southbound by Exit 16. Police, however, did not find the vehicle when they arrived on the scene.

On Friday, shortly before 2 p.m., a caller reported a disabled motor vehicle near Exit 16 on Route 128 southbound and a woman walking along the shoulder of the road. Police were not able to find the woman or the disabled vehicle when they arrived on scene.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, the Department of Public Works was notified of the road conditions and began to sand and plow the streets.

A power outage was reported shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Bridge Street; National Grid was notified and responded to make the needed repairs.

Saturday at 12:46 p.m., police received reports of water bubbling from the sidewalk on Forrest Street; the Department of Public Works was notified. DPW director Steve Kenney said the routine service leak was being handled on Monday.

On Sunday, at 10:46 a.m., there were reports of wires down on Old Essex Road. Firefighters arrived to move the wires to the side of the road.
