Gloucester Police/Fire: Homeless man arrested on warrants

---- — A homeless man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Tuesday about 6:17 p.m., when a Gloucester officer recognized the man at a Rockport homeless shelter.

The officer arrested Theodore Dagostino, 71, then transferred Dagostino into the custody of Rockport police, according to police.

The warrant was issued against Dagostino for three violations of a restraining order out of Gloucester District Court, according to police.

Emergency personnel transported a homeless man to Addison Gilbert Hospital, after finding the intoxicated man sleeping on a bench outside of the Fitz Hugh Lane House on Harbor Loop on Wednesday about 2:44 p.m., according to police.

Police were unable to decipher how many nights the man had been sleeping outside, but he had blown blood vessels in one eye, police said.

A woman was reunited with her lost wallet, after another woman turned the wallet into police Wednesday about 5:09 p.m.

The silver Kenneth Cole Reaction wallet contained credit cards and a driver’s license, but police were unable to find contact information for the owner in the wallet, which was found at Market Basket. But, an hour later, the owner called police to report she had lost her wallet, then went to the station to retrieve it, police said.

Firefighters shut off a furnace in a Haven Terrace building that was burning too hot Thursday about 12:13 a.m.. The building owner reported a plastic odor in the building. Police notified the Fire Department of the call, and firefighters found a sticker on the hot furnace was the cause of the stench.

A Madison Avenue woman reported to police that a hawk attacked a seagull on Madison Avenue on Wednesday about 11 a.m.
