Rockport Police/Fire

ROCKPORT — Police said Monday that more residents have reported theft or break-in attempts Sunday and Monday.

At 8:23 a.m. on Sunday, a resident reported an apparent break-in at a Long Beach cottage. Police said there appeared to be some damage and electronics may have been taken. The owners of the cottage were notified and police are investigating the issue.

Monday at 10 a.m., a Long Beach resident reported somebody had tried to enter their house. Police said there was no damage, and officers did not believe anyone gained entry to the home.

Police are paying special attention to the Long Beach area after two other calls came in Monday morning about possible break-ins. Police said there were reports from two businesses regarding break-ins as well.

Police are still investigating all of the cases.

On Saturday, a Stockholm Avenue resident called police to report an incidence of identity theft. That case is also under investigation, officers said.

Police responded to a report of the rear door of the Community House on Broadway being left open Sunday at 12:30 a.m. When police arrived, however, they found it to be secure.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance on South Street at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Responding officers said the incident was a verbal argument, and that the residents were spoken to, but no charges were filed.

Police received a noise complaint at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday at Sandy Bay Estates. Police said a radio in the building was too loud and the resident turned down the volume when asked.

At 6:32 a.m., police said several residents of Granite Street called to report brown water. Police notified the town’s Department of Public Works.

On Sunday night at 10:15, police notified firefighters after a carbon monoxide alarm went off on Tarrs Lane.

Police notified National Grid about a crooked telephone pole on Pooles Lane at 10:41 a.m. Monday.
