Gloucester Police/Fire: Driver, 80, escapes injury in crash

GLOUCESTER — Firefighters freed an 80-year-old man uninjured from his truck Saturday after the vehicle rolled onto its side on Concord Street near Exit 13 at about 9:13 a.m.

The man declined medical attention, according to police.

Police said the Ford F150 truck, driven by the 80-year-old resident, rolled onto the driver’s side after apparently drifting off the roadway and striking a tree stump. Police said speed did not appear to be a factor as the vehicle did not slide after rolling.

Firefighters removed the truck’s windshield, then helped the man out through the open windshield space, according to police.

Tally’s towed the truck from the accident scene, according to police.

Police transported a 15-year-old boy to Addison Gilbert Hospital Friday night about 6:57 p.m., after finding the teen “highly intoxicated” and “unresponsive” on Pleasant Street, according to police.

The fire rescue ambulance administered first aid and the teen’s parents met him and police at the hospital, police said.

Police arrested a man and a woman on drug charges while following up on a tip Sunday about 7:17 p.m.

James Broadley, 41, and Holly M. Brewer, 30, both of 2 Perkins St. were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after police conducted a search of their home, according to police.

Officers found about $591 in cash in the house and seized that money along with approximately 2.5 pounds of marijuana, two cellphones and two scales, according to the police report.

Gloucester police arrested a Lynn man on charges of driving without a license and driving with an open alcohol container in the vehicle and a marked lanes violation, after stopping the man for driving erratically.

Police stopped Jose D. Alberto, 20, after he twice drove across the center line on Eastern Avenue.

Officers said that Alberto passed two field sobriety tests, but found that he was not a licensed driver, according to the police report.
