Essex Police/Fire: Conomo crash sends one to hospital

ESSEX — A single-car crash on Conomo Point Road Friday night sent one person to Beverly Hospital.

Essex police said there was heavy damage to a vehicle after it crashed into the woods on Friday at 7:44 p.m. Police said there were five people in the car in total, with one person being transported to the hospital by the Fire Department’s ambulance crew.

A Gloucester man is facing a charge of driving without a license after a motor vehicle stop in Essex.

Julio Mafiolet, 43 of 119 Heights at Cape Ann in Gloucester was cited after he was stopped on Eastern Avenue on Saturday at 7 a.m. The vehicle was towed from the area.

Essex police officials were notified of a possibly intoxicated motorist heading into town by Hamilton police officers on Sunday at 6:48 p.m. Police checked the area of Belcher Street, but were unable to find anyone.

On Saturday shortly before 2 p.m., police were notified about two dogs and their owner that had fallen through the ice and into the water on Chebacco Lake off Coral Hill Road.

When police officers and firefighters arrived, the dogs and their owner were safely on shore; the owner refused medical attention.

An Eastern Avenue resident was transported to Beverly Hospital Saturday at 4:56 p.m.

Sunday at 7:37 a.m., a female Deer Hill Road resident was transported to Beverly Hospital.

Sunday at 7:31 p.m., a male Forest Avenue resident was transported to Beverly Hospital.
