Police/Fire

GLOUCESTER — Police arrested a 32-year-old Taylor Street man on two outstanding warrants out of Gloucester District Court Wednesday about 11:06 a.m., according to police.

Police said officers arrested the man, Gabriel G. Segundo, in the lobby of the police station.

Police also arrested Wellington Rodrigues, 23, of Gould Street on a warrant in the lobby of the police station Wednesday about 12:05 p.m., according to police.

State police are investigating a single-vehicle crash on the southbound side of the Route 128 Extension about 12:06 a.m. Thursday.

The 45-year-old driver, a Gloucester man, was transported to Beverly Hospital for treatment after his vehicle struck a guard rail on the passing lane side of the road, police said. Tally’s towed the vehicle from the scene.

Police reported two downed street signs to the Department of Public Works Wednesday afternoon.

One officer found the stop sign that belongs on the corner of Main and Chestnut Streets on the ground with its bolts missing about 5:13 p.m., according to police. Police told public works to repair that sign immediately for safety. A resident also reported a street sign at the corner of Prospect Street and Elm Street, one street over, had also been knocked down about 4:41 p.m.
