---- — ESSEX — A Manchester man is accused of driving under the influence and faces other criminal complaints after a marked lanes violation stop on Eastern Avenue early Saturday morning.
According to police, officers observed Douglas Porter, 22, of Summer Street in Manchester crossing the double lines. After he was stopped, police said they smelled an odor of marijuana in the car.
According to police, officers found drug paraphernalia, and Porter faces criminal complaints of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and failure to use care when stopping in addition to the marked lanes violation.
A passenger was also charged with a civil infraction of marijuana possession, less than one ounce.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Scott Savory, 53 of Pine Ridge Road, is now facing charges in the aftermath of a car accident that occurred on Jan. 5.
Police said Savory was driving his truck that afternoon when it struck a telephone pole on Scotts Way. The accident resulted in Savory and a passenger being transported to area hospitals.
Savory is facing charges of operating under the influence of alcohol, causing serious bodily injury, speeding and a seat belt infraction.
Police responded to an odor of gas Friday just after 4 p.m. on Addison Street. National Grid was notified.
Police received a report of alleged suspicious activity on Saturday at 7:26 p.m.
When they responded, however, to the report of somebody in a boat on a Main Street Marina, police confirmed it was simply the owner.
On Sunday at 6:30 p.m., a female Western Avenue resident was transported to Beverly Hospital.
