Gloucester Police/Fire: Washington Street man faces assault charge

GLOUCESTER — A city man is facing a charge of assault and battery after Gloucester police arrested him Tuesday morning at his Washington Street home.

Officers arrested Adam B. Mattson, 34, of 102 Washington St. at 8:33 a.m. after he was accused of grabbing a woman and throwing her to the floor, causing her to hit her head on a table on the way down, according to police.

A Lawndale Circle man reported that a 2.5-foot high concrete statue of a L abrador retriever was missing from his lawn Monday about 7:08 p.m., according to police.

The man had noticed the concrete dog missing that day.
