Gloucester Police/Fire: Shoveling disputes draw police calls

GLOUCESTER — Police settled at least six different neighborhood disputes, all centering around snow removal over the weekend, according to reports.

Police first restored peace between two Beacon Street neighbors arguing about shoveling Saturday about 11:55 a.m. Then police spoke to two Blynman Avenue neighbors arguing over snow removal about 12:48 p.m. Saturday. A dispute over plowing also arose between Millet Street residents about 4:15 p.m., but was resolved by police.

Finally, police responded to a report of a Bray Street woman “throwing herself in front of a plow” Sunday about 12:14 p.m., police said. The woman was upset that a private plow contractor was pushing snow onto her side of the street, according to police.

Later Sunday, police responded to two more sets of neighbors butting heads over shoveling — the first, a pair of Maplewood Avenue neighbors, had their issue resolved about 5:17 p.m. Sunday, then two Hesperus Avenue neighbors who had a snow blowing disagreement had their issues resolved by police at 9:09 p.m.

Police arrested 27-year-old Justin J. Brown of Pleasant Street on charges of domestic assault and battery Friday about 1:54 p.m., according to police.

Police said Brown, who was arrested on Millet Street, was transported to Middleton Jail about 3:03 p.m. No further information on the incident was available.

Security guards at Addison Gilbert Hospital reported finding a rolled up dollar bill with a white residue next to the bill in the hospital’s men’s bathroom Friday about 9:17 a.m., according to police.

Police said they have not identified the powder, and do not know to whom the powder or the bill belong.

Police stopped and warned at least two drivers to get off the road after the blizzard warning began Friday, according to reports.

One driver who was also unlicensed, 27-year-old Antonio Robles of Lynn, was charged with unlicensed operation after police stopped him for driving during the blizzard Friday about 12:43 p.m. on Rogers Street, police said.
