Fishing vessel takes on water

A commercial fishing boat from Maine sprung a leak this morning near the Intershell dock off Commercial Street.

The Aaron & Melissa, a 75-foot vessel from Maine, started taking on water, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said.

The owner was on board the boat, reported the Coast Guard, which was on the scene.

Gloucester firefighters were called in to assist the Coast Gaurd and the Gloucester harbormaster in setting up booms to contain a possible oil leak.
