---- — ESSEX — A Gloucester resident was issued a civil citation for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana on Tuesday, following a traffic stop at 1 a.m.

Police said the vehicle was initially stopped because of an out-of-date inspection sticker. But when officers approached the car, they could clearly smell marijuana, according to the police report.

Police also found drug paraphernalia in the car. The driver was issued a civil citation for the expired inspection sticker. Police declined to provide the name of the driver.
