Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX — Civil citations for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana were issued to three teenage boys who were allegedly smoking it in front of Essex Elementary School at 11:01 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

According to police, an officer checking on the school allegedly observed the three teens smoking from a hallowed-out apple. Police seized the marijuana, issued the citations, and sent the teens off the school property.

Police received a report of cable lines downed by storm winds Wednesday on Lufkin Point Road. Officers notified Verizon and Comcast of the downed lines about 2:13 p.m., according to police, and those companies made the repairs.
