Schooner Festival Schedule

GLOUCESTER SCHOONER FESTIVAL 2010

(Schedule of events subject to change based on wind, marine and weather conditions.)

FRIDAY

All Day — Arrival of participating vessels

5 to 8 p.m. — Mayor's reception for invited guests, sponsored by the Schooner Adventure and U.S. Coast Guard, Station Gloucester.

6 to 11 p.m. — Downtown Gloucester Block Party has been canceled due to hurricane watch.

SATURDAY

10 a.m. — Skippers meeting for all traditional small craft, at Solomon Jacobs Park, adjacent to the U.S. Coast Guard Station on Harbor Loop.

10 a.m. — Walking tour of Gloucester's working waterfront. Join Schooner Adventure for a walking tour of Gloucester's working waterfront during its fishing heyday. Tour will start at the Fisherman's Memorial and will last about 90 minutes.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Gloucester Maritime Heritage Day on Harbor Loop. Free to all.

Noon to 4:30 p.m. — Open house at U.S. Coast Guard Station, Harbor Loop.

1 to 2 p.m. — Start of sailing races for traditional small craft, off Eastern Point Light.

6 p.m. — Festival crew party for invited guests.

7:30 p.m. — Boat "Parade of Lights," beginning in the Annisquam river at Jones Creek, sailing down the Annisquam, out through the Blynman Bridge, and touring portions of the inner and outer Gloucester Harbor.

9:15 p.m. — Fireworks display over Gloucester Harbor, with fireworks based at Stage Fort Park. (following Boat Parade of Lights; time approximate).

SUNDAY

8:30 a.m. — Skippers meeting for all schooners sailing in the Mayor's Race; Solomon Jacobs Park, adjacent to the U.S. Coast Guard Station on Harbor Loop.

10:30 a.m. to noon — Parade of Sail, with schooners proceeding from the inner harbor, past the Fishermen's Memorial on Stacy Boulevard, to the race starting area off Eastern Point.

11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Shuttle Bus to Eastern Point Light, from Eastern Point Gate (Eastern Point Boulevard at Farrington Avenue) to watch the start of the Mayor's Race. (Courtesy of Cape Ann Transportation Authority.)
