MANCHESTER — A motorist was transported to Salem Hospital Tuesday following what police called a "minor" single-car crash on Tuck's Point Road at 6:35 p.m.

A fire crew was dispatched to Newport Park Road in response to a smoke alarm activation reported at 6:45 Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters determined burnt food on the stove had triggered the alarm.

Fire crews responded to a smoke alarm at a University Lane residence at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday; firefighters on scene were unable to determine what caused the activation.

The Fire/Rescue Squad transported a patient from the Medical Building on School Street to Beverly Hospital at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday.

Rescuers also transported men from Crooked Lane and The Plains to Beverly Hospital on Wednesday.
