Gloucester Police/Fire: Man refuses to leave, is arrested

A Connecticut man, part of a group accused of “destroying” a bathroom at Captain Carlo’s, was arrested Saturday about 1 a.m.

Joshua R. Reaves, 28, and friends had been kicked out of the Harbor Loop restaurant’s bar before police were called to the scene for a report of a “large fight.”

Police told the group to leave the area multiple times, and they refused. An officer then grabbed one of Reaves’s arms, telling him he was under arrest, and Reaves locked his arms in front of his body. Officers then took Reaves to the ground to cuff him.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A Cape Ann Marina security guard realized a golf cart was missing from the property Saturday about 3:26 a.m., and reported the cart stolen. The security guard said the cart, which is usually kept near the front lobby, went missing once before.

Firefighters extinguished a fire in the woods behind Nino’s Laundromat on Bass Avenue on Saturday about 10 a.m. Firefighters had received a call reporting heavy smoke in the area of Decatur Street, then discovered the brush fire in the woods between that address and the laundromat.
