Town Talk: A wunderkammern showcase for Essex

Sure, there a lot of antiques in Essex, but on Sunday a special collection will be unveiled.

Antiques dealer Keith Funston of Sudbury has been interested in wunderkammern, also known as a cabinet of curiosities, for decades. He has set one up at Essex Antiquarians, 165 Main St., with a very broad and diverse range of antiques and natural history material.

“Unlike the traditional “cabinet of curiosities” — all these things are for sale,” said Funston. This special presentation will open Sunday at 11 a.m.

For more information about Cabinet of Curiosities or this special exhibit and sale by Keith Funston, call Jackie Sideli at 508-801-6063

Sept. 11 services planned

The Essex Fire Department will be holding its annual 9/11 Memorial Service on Wednesday at 9:55 a.m. in front of the Essex Memorial Fire Station on Martin Street.

The short service allows everyone to reflect and remember those individuals who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Retired firefighters and the public are encouraged to attend.
