Gloucester Police/Fire: Elm Street man faces drunken driving charge

Police/Fire

A 35-year-old Elm Street man was arrested on charges of drunken driving, failing to stop at a red traffic light, and driving an unregistered vehicle about 1:22 a.m. Wednesday.

Police stopped Cameron H. Hale after he inched “a car length” past the stop line at the East Main Street and Bass Avenue light before proceeding onto the Route 128 Extension.

Hale failed four field sobriety tests, according to police. Hale told an officer that he drank four beers at the Crows Nest before getting behind the wheel.

Police arrested a 47-year-old North Kilbey Street resident, charging the man with disorderly conduct, after he allegedly tried to walk away from an officer responding to a possible domestic situation.

Police said the man, Samuel B. Ogorman, was either under the influence of narcotics, alcohol or both. Ogorman allegedly “shoved” a police officer’s hand away from him, began walking away from the officer, and threw a prescription bottle containing Oxycontin before his arrest.

A Stop and Shop manager reported receiving a suspicious phone call Monday about 2 p.m., with a heavily breathing man on the other line.

The Stop and Shop employee who answered the phone told police the man said, “I killed them all and now I want my money.”

The employee was unsure whether the caller might be a teenager playing a practical joke, but agreed to call police again if she received another call.
