A 76-year-old Rockport man was transported to a Boston Hospital via medical flight after falling off a ledge on Starknaught Heights Friday afternoon.

According to police reports, Robert L. Perry, of 15 Eden Lane, fell 10 feet from a ledge behind 33 Starknaught Heights, a home at which he was working.

When police arrived, they found Perry wedged between two rocks. He was "conscious and alert, but in a lot of pain," according to police.

Perry was transported to the Coast Guard Station on Harbor Loop, where he was taken to a Boston hospital by a Medflight helicopter. His condition was unavailable as of Friday night.

It was unclear how long Perry had stuck between the rocks when authorities arrived.

Police first received a call from a Thatcher Road resident at 1 p.m. Friday reporting that somebody was screaming for help in the woods. A short time later, police received a 911 call from the Starknaught Heights homeowner stating that a worker at his house had fallen off of a ledge behind the home.

Police working on a nearby road detail responded to the scene, found Perry at the foot of the ledge, and launched the efforts to raise him to safety.
