Covers chosen for annual Rockport town report

An image of a snow-covered Granite Bridge will adorn Rockport's 2009 annual report.

The winning front cover photo was submitted by Sarah Mowitt of Drumlin Road.

Old Harbor Road resident John Bruce submitted the winning image for the back cover — a winter scene of Rockport Harbor prior to the construction of Rockport Music's Shalin Lui Performance Center.

Selectmen selected the winners at their Jan. 26 meeting.

"Both photos are beautiful," said MaryLou Settipani, selectmen's senior administrative assistant.

Last year's cover photo was Gil McCarthy's photograph of the twin lighthouse towers as seen from Marmion Way on a sunny July day in 2008.

Rockport's 2008 town report was recently honored as third best in the state in its population category by the Massachusetts Municipal Association.
