ESSEX — A businesswoman reported a larceny to police at 2:52 p.m. Thursday.

The co-owner of the Essex Bird Shop & Pet Supply Inc. at 121 Eastern Ave., Route 133, reported that a birdhouse located outside the shop was stolen sometime earlier in the day.

The owner said staff puts the birdhouse outside when the shop opens and brings it indoors when the store closes. The birdhouse was valued at $45.
