Back Shore zoning talks pushed to June 7

The Planning Board's second public comment session on a hotel overlay district proposal for two motels on Atlantic Road — initially scheduled for tonight — will instead be continued until June 7.

Planning Board members and the City Council's Planning And Development subcommittee started the hearing on a hotel overlay district proposal for the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn and the Atlantis Oceanfront Inn on May 3.

But Planing Board Chairman Richard Noonan said Wednesday that board members would like to take more time to review the issue and public comment before convening again. That, and the fact that Planning and Development Chairman Bruce Tobey would not be able to attend a meeting tonight, led to the change, he said.

"The discussion is looking at the broader impact rather than just these two parcels," Noonan said.
