Essex Police/Fire: Teen nabbed for drugs behind police station

ESSEX — A 19-year-old Essex youth was arrested by police on drug possession and distribution charges — behind the town's police station.

Police charged Ian Towle, 19, of 81 Choate St., after officers responded to a report regarding a number of youths behind the police station at 11:42 p.m. Saturday.

When police went to check it out, they arrested Towle on charges of possessing and distributing marijuana and hash oil, possessing narcotic pills without a prescription, and possessing alcohol.

A resident reported that someone had cut down bushes in vandalizing a Conomo Point residence's yard Sunday at 10:20 p.m.

Police shot a rabid raccoon at a Dodge Street residence Saturday at 12:41 p.m. The animal had been seen at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum a few hours earlier.

The Essex Fire Department responded with an engine and extrication device to a car accident on Martin Street, Route 22, at the Essex-Hamilton line Friday at 11:55 p.m.

Police rendered mutual aid, and directed traffic. No further information was available.

Officers shot a deer that had been hit by a car on Western Avenue on Friday at 11:21 p.m.
