Manchester Police/Fire: 'Suspicious' driver eludes police

---- — MANCHESTER — Police responded to a report of alleged “suspicious activity” in the area of School and Mill Streets Monday around 3:30 p.m.

According to police, a man reported that the driver of a pickup truck may have been impaired, saying that the driver exhibited strange speech patterns when talking to the reporting party.

Police, however, could not find a truck matching the description when they reached the scene.

A Raymond Street man reported to police that he heard fireworks sounding off just after midnight Tuesday, but officers could not find anything when they arrived.

Police found a beagle on Bridge Street and returned it to its owner Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. Police also found a dead cat on Washington Street Tuesday at 7:45 a.m.

An apparently abandoned cache of clothes was found along Union Street Tuesday around 11:15 a.m., and was turned into police.
