Crunch Time

Past is gone

The next time you say the New England Patriots have the advantage over a team because they “know what it takes to be a champion,” consider this:

With Vince Wilfork done for the season, Tom Brady is the only player on the roster from the championship years.

That’s right, Brady is now the lone link to the golden era of Tedy Bruschi, Troy Brown and Mike Vrabel. No one else on the roster has a Patriots Super Bowl ring.

Doesn’t feel that long ago, but it is.

Kidd suspended

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd has been suspended before coaching a game.

The NBA banned the first year Nets head coach on Friday for the first two games of the season for a DUI charge over the summer.

Filing suit

Alex Rodriguez filed a lawsuit against Major League Baseball on Friday over the handling of it’s investigation of Biogenesis. Rodriguez faces a 211 game suspension stemming from the investigation.

The lawsuit states that Major League Baseball, most notably commissioner Bud Selig improperly marshaled evidence that they hoped to use to destroy the reputation and career of Rodriguez.

Unfortunately for Rodriguez he has not needed Major League Baseball to do such a thing, he has done it himself.

Record ratings

According to NESN Thursday’s Bruins season opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning drew a 9.0 rating and a 15 share, the second highest opening night rating for the Bruins since the 2012-2013 opener.

To the enemy

Tight end Zach Sudfeld, who was recently released by the Patriots, was picked up off waivers by the Jets on Friday.

Sudfeld had a big preseason but was invisible in the regular season, he now plays for the Patriots’ biggest enemy.
