Town Talk: Essex hosting Halloween celebration

ClamFest isn’t the only celebration on the calendar for Essex today.

The town will also be hosting its Halloween celebration today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Centennial Grove.

There will be games, prizes, crafts, music, a haunted trail and hayrides.

The Essex Parent Teacher Organization will be selling pizza, popcorn and cider and everyone is welcome to bring a jack-o-lantern to be displayed.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Streams going green?

No, it’s not St. Patrick’s Day, but some residents might notice brooks or streams throughout Manchester dyed green.

The change is part of the town’s sewer in-flow removal program, according to the town’s Department of Public Works.

Under the program, storm drains are filled with harmless green dye to see if there are connections from the storm drains to the sanitary sewer, so they can be removed.

For questions, call the Department of Public Works at 978-526-1242.

Final flu clinic set

The last flu clinic of the season hosted by the town of Manchester is set for Monday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Hall.

There are three types of immunizations still available. Please remember to wear a short sleeved shirt and bring an insurance card.

Landmark project

Landmark School on Bridge Street in Manchester is hosting a special presentation called “In Their Own Words: Language-Based Learning Disabilities from a Student’s Perspective.”

The program planned for Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Landmark Student Advocates, an extraordinary group of high school seniors, will share their first-hand experiences of navigating the educational system with a language-based learning disability, such as dyslexia.

This one-of-a-kind presentation is designed for parents and guardians of children with learning disabilities, students who are struggling in school, educational advocates and consultants, educators, and those curious to know more.
