Rockport Police/Fire: Driver cited after Nugent Stretch crash

ROCKPORT — A motorist was cited by police for following too closely behind another vehicle Wednesday night after a two-car crash on Nugent Stretch at 8:41 p.m.

The rear-end collision caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle which failed to stop in time; that vehicle had to be towed from the scene by Sandy Bay Service.

There were no reported injuries, police said.

The Fire Department responded to a smoke detector alarm at a Danvin Court condominium Wednesday night. Firefighters on scene at 9:30 determined the alarm was false.

A Rockport Ambulance crew transported a woman who had fallen in her Millbrook Park apartment to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester at 6:33 Wednesday morning. Also Wednesday, rescuers transported a woman from Whistlestop Mall to the Gloucester hospital.
