Police arrested a Prospect Street resident early Monday morning on charges of domestic assault and battery after he allegedly bit a girl who was staying at his residence, and threw her to the ground.

Anthony Dietzel, 18, of 6 Prospect St., was arrested Monday at 12:49 a.m. after police responded to a report of a domestic incident in progress at the residence. When they arrived they saw the girl, 14, and a woman 18, at the residence. The girl told them Dietzel had bitten her, and thrown her to the ground.

Police found Dietzel arguing with his mother in his bedroom, and when officers placed him in handcuffs, he tried to spit and bite an officer, according to the police report.

He was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.

Officers arrested a Presson Point Road resident for driving with a suspended license on Washington Street early Tuesday morning.

U.S. Coast Guard officials from Station Gloucester told the Times Tuesday that a helicopter flying low over some parts of the city was carrying out planned training exercises. A number of people had called to inquire about the ‘copter Tuesday afternoon.

Officers arrested Anthony Psalidas, 21, of 25 Presson Point Road, Tuesday at 1:35 a.m. at the intersection of Washington and Mansfield Street.

According to the police report, an officer saw him driving down Washington Street, recognized that he was driving on a suspended license and pulled him over. Police arrested him and found a marijuana grinder and pipe in his car.

A woman called police to report a wooden dog attached to the Gloucester Dog Park fund-raising sign on Grant Circle had been stolen over the weekend.

The woman called at 5 p.m. Monday afternoon to report the sign missing, but she called back three hours later and said a concerned citizen told her they took the sign because it was damaged by the weekend rainstorms.
