Gloucester District Court: Man gets suspended term over station incident

A Gloucester man pled guilty Friday to charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, indecent exposure and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer and was sentenced Friday to a one-year suspended jail term by Judge James Lamothe in Gloucester District Court.

Michael McGrath-Dyer, 20, of no known address in Gloucester, will also be on probation until September 2011.

McGrath-Dyer was arrested in May after police were called to the commuter rail station on Railroad Avenue on reports that he was bothering women waiting for the train.

Officers were flagged down on the corner of Washington and Derby streets, and two women told police they followed McGrath-Dyer from the train station to the corner of Derby Street after he reportedly called them obscene names.

According to police report, the two women also said McGrath-Dyer exposed himself and started to urinate on the side of the road.

According to police reports, McGrath-Dyer was still urinating when officers arrived on scene. When police attempted to arrest him, he resisted.

Police say McGrath-Dyer refused to get into the back of the cruiser after being handcuffed and, when police attempted to get him into the back seat, he kicked them in the legs.

Keaton W. Heckman, 21, of 14 East Main St., Gloucester, was handed a six-month suspended jail sentence and a year's probation after pleading guilty to charges of illegal possession of a Class C substance and Class C substance possession with intent to distribute.

Heckman was arrested in May after police observed him walking across Grant Circle toward the Route 128 Extension, but avoiding the crosswalk, at 3 a.m.

When officers stopped him, they found 15 Vicodin pills, a small bag of marijuana and a scale in his possession, according to police reports.
