The children in the program's three sites, which incude Veteran's Memorial Elementary and Rockport Elementary schools, were given pedometers Monday to record all their steps this week. On Friday, all the children's steps will be added together. They hope to reach 6.25 million steps, which equates to a round trip walk from the Cape Ann YMCA to New Orleans, La., which ties in with the Mardi Gras theme of this year's YMCA Annual Fundraising Gala.
